Objective: To study the clinical efficacy of the therapeutic preparation Ionica for oral rehydration therapy during the treatment of viral diarrhea in infants.

Patients and methods. In hospital conditions were examined and treated 30 children in the age from 1 to 3years with a secretory diarrhea of viral etiology with the presence of dehydration of mild and moderate s everity. Verification of the diagnosis was carried out on the basis of clinical and paraclinical tests. Dailyclinical examination of children and laboratory research in the dynamics was carried out. Ionica solution was administrated to all children.

Results. In all examined children in addition to the mild to moderate viral diarrhea occurred such concomitant diseases as: malnutrition, rickets, anemia, perinatal lesion of the central nervous system, symptoms of intestinal dysbiosis of II and III degree. During the treatment in coprogram of examined children were marked the decrease of the number of leucocytes and mucus. On the 5th day of treatment, most patients have a comfortable bowel movement in nature.

Conclusions. Timely initiated oral rehydration significantly reduces the likelihood of the need for infusion therapy. Ionica is a highly effective and safe preparation that allows recommending its use during the treatment of viral diarrhea in children.
