The philosophical issues of palliative and hospice care, death and dying of a person – the provision of medical and social care at the terminal stages – are closely related to the development of philosophical anthropology, axiology, bioethics, ideas and concepts of humanities, philosophical, sociological, psychological doctrines of human nature. In the context of philosophical problems of death and dying, the ideas of perception of time, human fragility, the meaning of life, trauma, dignity of the individual, which form the modern understanding of the phenomena of death and dying in medical discourse, are analyzed. It is concluded that under the influence of the key ideas of philosophy, psychology, psychotherapy, palliative and hospice care should be transformed into a multidimensional activity that includes not only medical care, but also spiritual and psycho-corporeal, psychotherapeutic support, understanding of the uniqueness and spiritual dimensions of human life.
