Purpouse: to investigate the anatomical features and condition of the precipitated organs with the gastroschisis among vaginally born infants and by caesarean section; and spend their comparative performance.

Patients and methods: the analysis of medical records (n=87), and the autopsy report (n=43) among 87 children with gastroschisis born vaginally or by caesarean section for the period from 1987 to 2013. It was used such methods as: prenatal and postnatal ultrasound, clinical, radiological, intraoperative revision data, morphological, histological (at autopsy in deaths of children), the statistical.

Results: The mode of delivery (cesarean section or natural) affects the anatomical characteristics and condition of the precipitated organs for gastroschisis were revealed. Children with gastroschisis born vaginally had the value of the anterior abdominal wall defect significantly greater than those who born by caesarean section, and the frequency of the precipitated retroperitoneal organs (duodenum, pancreas) – high. After the cesarean section the infants with gastroschisis had less severe pathological changes of the precipitated organs than after the vaginal birth: more often they have the physiological pink color, significantly lower an incidence of fibrin peel, as well as seal and thickening of the intestinal wall.

Conclusions: Thus, the delivery method (cesarean section or natural way) affected on the anatomical characteristics and of the precipitated organs condition for gastroschisis.

Key words: gastroschisis, newborns, anatomical features, cesarean section.
