Pathology of the lower part of the genital tract – the strategy and tactics of treatment

Infectious diseases of the lower parts of the genital tract are the most common among the population. Depending on the nature of the pathogen, vaginitis is classified into fungal (predominantly Candida), trichomonadic, bacterial or mixed etiology. Vulvovaginal candidiasis is the most famous of vaginal infections, the prevalence of which is likely to be due to the self-medication of antimycotic drugs for sale without prescription and advertising in the popular press. Many women are mistaken in believing that their vaginal symptoms are due to a yeast infection, or thinking of a doctor’s diagnostic error. Therapeutic measures in this case involve the use of oral and local (topical) prescription drugs. Pharmacology today is developing at a crazy pace. A lot of new medicines, including those for the treatment of candidiasis, are constantly emerging. The review presents how substantiated and really effective is topical therapy with Terzigan and Lomexin® in the treatment of uncomplicated, complicated and recurrent candidiasis vulvovaginitis caused by C. albicans and C. non-albicans
