The aim of this lecture is to promote the formation of modern ideas about papillomavirus infection, the history of the discovery of IDPs and its role in the development of cervical cancer, pathogenesis and stages of the clinical course of PVI. Also, emphasized on the diagnosis and prevention of PVI and on recommendations for screening in women of different age groups, options for treatment regimes are considered.
Key words: HPV infection, cervical cancer, screening, the Bethesda system, vaccination from HPV.
