The article is devoted to an actual problem of pediatric surgery — congenital low intestinal obstruction in neonates. Issues of the etiology, embryogenesis, classification, pathophysiology, clinical course, histological intestinal changes, prognostic factors and mortality were discussed based on the analysis of contemporary literature. Peculiarities of prenatal and postnatal diagnosis of these newborns, details covered current approaches to the tactics and strategy of surgical care were shown.
Key words: small intestine atresia, a congenital intestinal obstruction, embryogenesis, diagnostics, surgical treatment, newborns.
