The aim of the study was to research the serum lipid spectrum in children with rheumatic diseases along with functional status of the liver.

Patients and methods. The study was conducted in 75 children with rheumatic diseases, including 66 patients with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, 6 with systemic lupus erythematosus and 3 with juvenile dermatomyositis. Complex clinical and laboratory examination included assessment of the functional status of the liver based on clinical manifestation of diseases, biochemical (ALT, AST, alkaline phosphatase, bilirubin, serum protein, thymol test, serum concentrations of cholesterol, triglycerides, a-cholesterol, β-cholesterol), ultrasound examinations. The concentration of total cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides were determined by enzymatic spectrophotometric method (COBAC MIRA) and a-cholesterol — using a set of Biosystems.

Results. In children with rheumatic diseases with high inflamatory activity and crucial progressive development in manifestation, which required long-term anti-inflammatory and disease-modifying therapy, were revealed the signs of lipid metabolic disorders with atherogenic orientation.

Conclusion. The most pronounced blood lipid spectrum disorders had patient with rheumatic diseases in association with functional liver disorders, which indicated on conducting of monitoring of blood lipid spectrum in this group of children and prescription of hepatoprotective medicine and those to improve the functional status of billiary system.

Key words: children with rheumatic diseases, lipid profile, functional status of the liver.
