Incidence peculiarities of acute respiratory disease among children with undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia

Incidence peculiarities of acute respiratory disease among children with undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia

Purpose — to study the peculiarities of acute respiratory pathology among children with undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia.

Materials and methods. We conducted retrospective analysis of data history and the overall incidence of children with acute respiratory disease according to 117 patient cards of children aged 1 to 10 years, who were observed in LLC «Children's Medical Center «Dobrobyt». There were 55 children with no signs of undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia and 62 children with clinical manifestations of undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia.

Results. It has been shown that children with clinical manifestations of undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia twice more often suffered from respiratory diseases and were proned to long-term course, more often have complications in the form of otitis, bronchitis, and adenoiditis. The results of the analysis showed a significant difference of the reported acute respiratory diseases with complications and long course before vaccination and after vaccination against pneumococcus among children with clinical manifestations of undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia. The preventive doses of vitamin D intake had no effect on the incidence rate of children with undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia.

Conclusions. Our research showed that children with clinical manifestations of undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia much more often suffer from acute respiratory infections, including the high_risk group that consists of children with complicated perinatal history. Preventative vaccination with pneumococcal vaccines is efficacious in reducing the incidence rate of acute respiratory disease among children with undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia.
