The article presents the results of a study on cervical concentrations of interleukin-8 in pregnant women with isthmic-cervical insufficiency in 30 weeks.

The purpose of this study is to determine the dynamics of changes of the contents of this proinflammatory cytokine in cervical mucus with the use obstetric pessary for the treatment of isthmic-cervical insufficiency.

Materials and methods. By immunoassay analysis was studied the concentration of interleukin-8 in cervical mucus of 72 pregnant women with diagnosed cervical insufficiency. Pregnant women were divided into two groups depending on the concentration of interleukin-8 in the beginning of the study. Weekly determined cervical concentrations of interleukin-8.

Results. Was installed the rapid growth of the content of proinflammatory cytokines in the group, where the initial concentration was 50 mg/ml. In the group with low content of interleukin-8 in the background obstetric pessary is also increased concentrations of the cytokine, however, it was more gradual. Defined trend to increased rate of preterm delivery increased if cervical concentrations of interleukin-8 in the application of obstetric pessary for the treatment of isthmic-cervical insufficiency.

Conclusion. The data obtained indicate the decrease in the effectiveness of treatment of isthmic-cervical insufficiency by using obstetric pessary on the background of inflammation reaction of cervical mucus.

Key words: isthmic-cervical insufficiency, interleukin-8, obstetric pessary.
