Current approaches to the treatment of chronic tonsillitis with frequent exacerbations in adolescents with perennial allergic rhinitis

Objective: To study the opportunities of the use of phytopreparation Imupret^® in the complex treatment of chronic tonsillitis due to the perennial allergic rhinitis. 

Patients and methods. A total of 38 patients with exacerbations of chronic process six or more times a year were under observation. A comparison group consisted of 18 persons and received conventional therapy. Main group consisted of 20 persons and additionally received Imupret preparation throughout the period of exacerbation and with the aim of prophylactics for the next three months. All patients underwent clinical and laboratory examinations during exacerbation of chronic tonsillitis, and after three months of starting treatment. 

Results. Additional application of Imupret during the acute period allow significantly reduce the duration and expression of subjective and objective symptoms of tonsillitis and general changes from the part of mucosa and regional lymph nodes. Application of Imupret for three months helped reduce the frequency of exacerbations and the need for repeated courses of antibiotic therapy that is certified by decreasing of colonization of mucosal pathogens. 

Conclusions. The comprehensive therapeutic effect of Imupret, lack of side effects and allergic reactions, allow recommend it as a means of basic therapy in patients with chronic tonsillitis with frequent exacerbations, even in the presence of concomitant allergic diseases.
