State of hepatobiliary system in children with Epstein—Barr viral infection according to ultrasound

Purpouse — to study the state of the hepatobiliary system in children with Epstein—Barr virus infection by ultrasound.
Patients and methods. The study involved 126 children with Epstein—Barr virus infection in Kiev City Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases, during 2011–2014 year. All children were conducted clinical examination, laboratory tests: complete blood count, blood biochemical parameters (alanineaminotrans-ferase, aspartateaminotransferase, lactatedehydrogenase, hlutamiltransferaza gamma). It was also held ultrasonography of the abdomen.
Results. Clinical, laboratory and ultrasound studies shows that the etiology of EBV infectious mononucleosis runs with involving in pathological process hepatobiliary system, accompanied by enlargement of the liver and changes its functional activity.
Conclusions. The results of abdominal ultrasound investigation help to detect functional lesions of hepatobiliary system and spleen in the acute stage of infectious mononucleosis. Children in the acute stage of IM were diagnosed with the early stage of sonographic diagnostic sign — the lymphadenopathy together with hepatolienomegaly. The most informative dopplersonography indices are increasing of blood flow velocity in portal vein and arterial hepatic blood flow.
