The article represents a literature review concerning the actual obstetrical problem – obstructive sleep apnea syndrom. Due to the increasing weight and uterine volume, hormonal changes, decreased functional and residual lung capacity during pregnancy, there is a significant load for the respiratory system, especially during sleep. Respiratory disorders accompanied by hypopnea, recurrent apnea, hypoxia and extremely negative effects for the health of mother and fetuses.
Key words: obstructive sleep apnea, breath disorders, hypoxia, perinatal complications.
