Modern view on fetal treatment of viral infections in newborns

Purpose — to optimize the treatment policy in infants with intrauterine viral infections by examining indicators of immunological status and metabolic processes in the course of the disease. 
 

Patients and methods. A total of 834 mothers and their infants, patients with suspected intrauterine infection. A study group made 224 observations of newborns with verified prenatal viral infections, control group — 30 healthy newborns. The state of humoral and cellular components of immunity, interferon status and metabolic processes in the course of the disease. 
 

Results. It was established that in the acute phase of intrauterine viral infections decrease the relative content of CD3+, CD4+, SD19+, coefficient of suppression, functional activity of neutrophils, a deficit of interferon status as a reduction of IFN-a, increase the level of MDA and the reduction of catalase for all clinical forms of the infection. Based on the system analysis of the immunological homeostasis proved the feasibility of a differential approach to the treatment strategy in different clinical cases of infection in order to correct violations of the immune system and metabolic processes. 
 

Conclusions. Using the complex antiviral, immunomodulatory therapy in combination with metabolic drugs have a more pronounced systemic effects compared with monotherapy, regardless of the clinical form of infection.
