The objective: of the study was to determine the effectiveness of the method of noncontact low-frequency ultrasonic cavitation (LFUSC) in the therapy of nonspecific colpitis.
Patients and methods. 60 patients with diagnosed nonspecific colpitis (NC)were involved in a case-control study. By the method of blind randomization they were divided into two groups: I (n=30) – every day for five days, received noncontact LFUS Cprocedures with combined bacteriostatic and fungicidal drug; II (n=30) – every day for five days received vaginal baths with the same solution. All patients for ten days received vaginal tablets with complex antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory action.
Results. On the third day patients of the I-st group have observed less pain and discomfort, the earlier disappearance of abnormal secretion, in comparison with patients of the II group. During a vaginalexamination, a decrease and disappearance of edema and hyperemia, epithelization of the vaginal erosions were noted in the I group. In the II-nd group, similar results were observed only on the 5-6 days. According to the results of further vaginal secretions` microscopic examination, it could be asserted that at equal baseline, after applying LFUSC there was a noticeable decrease of leukocytosis level, recovery of the normal microflorawas observed in 83.3%,in comparison with patients II group (50%). NC relapseswere found in 6.7% at 1 month, in 20.0% after 2-6 months in the II group, whereas in the I group relapses were absent throughout the observation period.
Conclusion. Treatment and prevention of nonspecific colpitis relapse has high clinical and laboratory efficiency at complex application of LFUSC and combined vaginal tablets.
Key words: nonspecific colpitis, noncontact low-frequency ultrasonic cavitation.
