Objective: to establish the efficiency of Laferobion administration in children with recurrent episodes of acute obstructive bronchitis (AOB) in the dynamics of treatment based on the cytokine profile evaluation.
Material and methods: In total 59 inpatiently treated children of the main group with repeated episodes of AOB (I-AOB) and 30 children of the comparative group suffered from the acute bronchitis (II-AB) in their 2 to 8 years old were examined. The results of laboratory tests were compared with the data of 30 healthy children of the control group (III-HC).
Results. In the children with repeated episodes of AOB, the serum level of interferon-γ and interleukin-4 was significantly lower in comparison with the healthy children. After the treatment with Laferobion, these cytokines significantly increased, reaching the values of healthy children. The interleukin-1β level in the children with repeated episodes of AOB was significantly higher than in the healthy children, and it normalized to the level of healthy children after immunomodulatory therapy with Lauferobion.
Conclusions. In the children with repeated episodes of AOB, the imbalance of cytokines is established; the efficacy of immunomodulatory therapy with Laferobion has been proved, as a result of which the levels of the studied serum cytokines were normalized.
Key words: recurrent episodes of acute obstructive bronchitis, acute bronchitis, children, immunoassay, cytokines, interferon-γ, interleukin-1-β, interleukin-4, immunomodulatory therapy.
