The objective: evaluation of diagnostic values of the index of the REER among blood donors and the study of its application in institutions of blood service at the time of screening for admission to participate in the donation.

Patients and methods. Surveyed 62 donor aged 20 to 55 years (33 men and 20 women). Among them, 29 people (17 men and 12 women) have made a donation for the first time, they made the first, control, group observation, and 33 donors (17 men and 16 women) were regular donors experience the donation over two years and have made at least two donations every year – they made up group II. Donors in group II potentially could have an iron deficiency. The definition of the measure of the REER of all blood donors was carried out automatically on a Hematology analyzer. Account indicators: the number of erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, mean haemoglobin content and its high concentration in one erythrocyte.

Results. Assessing the condition of red blood cells in active blood donors in the form of their distribution in volume – the standard deviation (SD), coefficient of asymmetry (As), the kurtosis (Ex) empirical urethrogram. It proved that active blood donors the mean values of the distributions of erythrocyte volume cells was lower than that of first-time donors, and rates of SD, As, Ex was not significantly different in donors of both groups. Thus, these features should be taken into account in the practice of clinical laboratory diagnostics.

Conclusion. Method of determining the measure of the REER is informative, economical, simple in execution, allows to implement it in organizations of service of blood in screening for the integrated assessment of the health status of donors at the time of admission to participate in the donation of the active blood donors.

Key words: active blood donors, red blood cells, the volume cells.
