Peculiarities of circadian rhythms of the cardio-vascular system functioning in school children with excessive body weight

Objective: to study daily rhythms of the cardio-vascular system activity in school children with excessive body weight. 
 

Materials and methods. 140 children aged from 13 to 16 have been examined by a single screening incidental method. Anamnesis, the indices of physical development, certain functional indices have been studied by means of Rufye's, Stange's tests, blood pressure (BP) have been measured. Holter daily monitoring under conditions of in-patient department was performed among 15 schoolchildren who had increased BP by the results of screening. 
 

Results. As the result of the study conducted there was 25% of school children found with increased level of BP. Daily monitoring of BP showed that teenagers with increased body mass index (BMI) have higher indices of BP than those of teens with normal BMI. Reliable high correlation links between BMI and the levels of BP have been found. Teenagers who during preventive examination were diagnosed to have elevated BP reveal variability of daily monitoring of arterial pressure (DMAP) may be due to the conditions of background imbalance of the vegetative nervous system resulting in inadequate night decrease of BP. 
 

Conclusions. Excessive body weight is a risk factor for increasing arterial blood pressure: a relative risk is 3.46±0.3 (95%СІ: 2.0–5.9). The basis to prevent BP among children and teenagers should be increased motivation of children for healthy life style, estimation of health and functional state before nosological approach, early detection of BP of patients from the risk group with circulatory system diseases.
