Abstract. The article discusses current approaches to the diagnosis of ulcerative colitis in children, based on international guidelines, protocols, diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease in children Ministry of Ukraine, author's personal experience . The criteria of assessment of disease severity on pediatric activity index, the concentration of faecal calprotectin .

Key words: ulcerative colitis, children, diagnosis, assessment of activity and severity.
