Irrigation-osmotic treatment of children with chronic rhinosinusitis

Objective: To study the effectiveness of irrigation therapy in the postoperative treatment of children with chronic rhinosinusitis. 

Patients and methods. A total of 90 children in the age of 5'15 years: 68 children with chronic rhinitis and nasal septum and 32 children with chronic hyperplastic sinusitis were under observation. To the complex of postoperative management of patients were included «Aqua Maris» saline sprays. 

Results. The use of «Aqua Maris» saline spray in children with chronic rhinosinusitis had shows the result of treatment, which is comparable with the effect of nasal steroids. After resection of the nasal septum with ultrasonic disintegration turbinates the use of «Aqua Maris» nasal spray allowed quickly restore nasal breathing and effectively deal with the symptoms of dryness of mucous membranes. The use of saline sprays in combination with dexpanthenol improved ciliated epithelium trophism and normalized mucosa mineral metabolis. 

Conclusions. «Aqua Maris» saline spray is a valuable therapeutic medication in the near and long'term postoperative sinus surgery in children.
