Helicobacter pylori among children: modern approaches to the diagnosis and ways to optimize the therapy

Purpose: an efficiency and safety evaluation of the triple therapy schemes using the nifuratel for Helicobacter pylori eradication in pediatric practice.

Patients and methods: there were 60 children from 6 to 17 years under observation. The very observation included the complaints and medical history, laboratory and instrumental methods. The main patients complaint was the pain.

Results: as a result of an observation there was the following pathology, associated with Helicobacter pylori infection: chronic gastritis — 15 (25%), chronic gastroduodenitis — 39 (65%), peptic ulcer — 6 (10%) children. For the Helicobacter pylori eradication among children from 6 to 12 years (18 persons) it was used the triple scheme, including the drug of the colloidal bismuth subcitrate in combination with amoxicillin and nifuratel, the children older than 12 years (42 persons) — omeprazole in combination with amoxicillin and nifuratel. As a treatment result all the patients had the positive clinical dynamics and it was achieved the Helicobacter pylori eradication high rate.

Conclusion: it was set a high and sufficient efficiency schemes of the Helicobacter pylori eradication among children up to 12 years (88,8%) and the older than 12 years (87,5%).The fast clinical symptoms cupping, excellent tolerability and safety of the very therapy allows to recommend them in the treatment of the Helicobacter pylori-associated diseases of the gastrointestinal tract among the children.
