Electric welding of soft lives tissues in pediatric surgery

Electric welding of soft lives tissues is a modern surgical technology. It has been successfully used in surgery, but in pediatric surgery is not found wide use, despite of great potential.


Objective. Summarizing the experience of using the method biological welding in pediatric surgery. Studiing of opportunities and prospects electric welding in pediatric surgery.


Materials and methods. In the Zhytomyr Regional Pediatric Clinical Hospital biological welding used since 2006. «EK300 M1» and «Patonmed EKВЗ-300 M1»surgical complex with a standard sets and electrosurgical instruments additionally worked out, including laparoscopic welding manipulators, are in use.


Results. During the course of this work for ten years 1126 surgical operations were made by the method electric welding of lives soft tissues, among them – laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery, 165 (14.65%); operations in infants – 41 (3.64%). The treatments of 15 hemangiomas with difficult anatomical localizations are finished with a good results. An effectiveness of operations by biological welding in intestine is proved. In operations in parenchymal organs complete hemostasis, cholestasis and aerostasis is achieved except when there has been a significant hemorrhagic impregnation of the damaged organ.


Conclusions. Biological welding has a several advantages; it deserves special attention in operations in children with diseases of blood clotting, using it in pediatric oncological surgery is useful; in treatment of hemangiomas with critical locations too; the treatment spontaneous pneumothorax by method of thoracoscopic electric welding of bullas and pleurobrasio can be recognized as a «gold standart»; the results allow us to recommend the widespread use of the biological welding in pediatric surgery.
