Objective. To assess the effectiveness of use of symbiotic «Laktiale Maliuk Formula» in adults with acute intestinal infections (AII).

Patients and methods. A total of 165 children in the age from 6 months to 3 years were under observation. The control group consisted of 23 healthy children. All patients had past examination of the determination of quantitative content of cytokines (IL-1β, -2, -4 -6, -8, FNPa), prostaglandins (PGE, PGF2a), lysozyme and secretory IgA in coprofiltrates in the blood serum at 1–3 and 7–9 days of study. The study group included 76 children who in addition to the complex therapy had received synbiotic «Laktiale Maliuk Formula» in the age dosage. A comparison group consisted of 66 children who had received other probiotic preparations. The control group consisted of 23 healthy children.

Results. The study of inflammatory mediators and local protective factors is shown deviations of their content in the acute period of the disease, that is certifies about activation of systemic and local inflammatory response. In the recovery period, these figures approached to the data of the control group, especially in children, who had received «Laktiale Maliuk Formula».

Conclusions. The use of «Laktiale Maliuk Formula» in the complex treatment of patients with acute intestinal infection promotes more rapid regression of clinical symptoms of disease. High efficiency and no side effects allow recommending more widely use of preparation at AII in adolescents.
