Objective. To evaluate the nature of the clinical course of chronic gastroduodenitis (CGD) in children with giardiasis invasion.

Patients and methods. A complex clinical, instrumental and laboratory examination of children in the age 7–18 years with Helicobacter-associated chronic gastroduodenitis is conducted. The first group consisted of 62 children with CGD without giardiasis invasion, the second group consisted of 43 children with CGD and giardiasis.

Results. In the presence of giardiasis in children with CGD significantly more often observed moderate intensity of cramping pain localized in the epigastric and umbilical areas not related to food intake, accompanied by nausea, loss of appetite, imbalance of bowel movements, general weakness and fatigue.

Conclusions. The presence of giardiasis infestation causes more severe CGD and is characterized by pronounced clinical symptoms.

Key words: children, chronic gastroduodenitis, giardiasis.
