The objective: study of the clinical efficacy of a probiotic containing Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG in the form of the drug «Preema kids» in the complex treatment of children in the period of exacerbation of atopic dermatitis (AtD).
Methods. The clinical observations were performed in 30 patients aged from 1 to 3 years with AtD exacerbation. The main group consisted of 16 patients with AtD who received standard treatment, including elimination diet and antihistamines with the additional use of a probiotic «Preema kids DUO». The control group consisted of 14 patients who received only standard treatment.
Results. After marked period of therapy of AtD exacerbation, all patients evaluated an improvement of clinical state. In children of the main group more often disappeared complaints of itchy skin, much less remained moderate rash (p<0,001); rarely remained increased motor activity (p<0,05) by the end of the third week of treatment. The clinical effectiveness in patients of the main group appeared as the reduction of the exacerbation period in average for 23,8%.
Conclusion. The usage of the probiotic containing Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG in the drug «Preema kids» in the complex standard therapy of AtD exacerbation in children accompanied by a more pronounced clinical effect and decreased the duration of the period of AtD exacerbation.
