State institute «Dnepropetrovsk Medical Academy of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine», c. Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine The article reviews current data on the characteristics of the molecular mechanisms of action of clarithromycin and its clinical efficacy in respiratory diseases in children. The relevance of this topic is due to the choice of antibiotics in children suffering from acute respiratory infections. Macrolide antibiotics currently widely used for the treatment of upper respiratory infections in the world. In many latest works was shown the effectiveness of clarithromycin for the treatment of a wide range of respiratory diseases, as well as its impact on the various links in the pathological process in respiratory diseases.

Key word: clarithromycin, upper respiratory infections, children
