Міома матки – доброякісна, моноклональна, добре відмежована, капсульована пухлина, яка формується з гладком’язових клітин шийки або тіла матки, – одна з найбільш поширених доброякісних утворень. Виникнення і розвиток міоми матки – мультифакторний процес, який і пояснює настільки часте її поширення і різнорідність самої пухлини як за морфогістохімічними особливостями, так і за клінічними проявами. З метою передопераційної підготовки перед видаленням вузлів пацієнткам із «симптомною» міомою матки призначають агоністи гонадотропін-рилізинг-гормону, антагоністи прогестерону (міфепристон). У літературі є публікації про використання синтетичного селективного модулятора прогестеронових рецепторів – уліпристалу ацетату (УПА) не тільки для передопераційної підготовки пацієнток з міомою матки, але і з метою консервативної їх терапії протягом 90 днів. Згідно з отриманим результатом одного з досліджень, під час спостереження 11 пацієнток з міомою матки зареєстровано достовірне зменшення розмірів міоматозних вузлів у 1/2 обстежених жінок. Незважаючи на те що лікування селективним модулятором прогестеронових рецепторів значно зменшує клінічний прояв і збільшення міоми матки питання щодо ефективності і безпеки його довгострокового застосування у пацієнток із «симптомною» міомою матки все ж потребують подальшого вивчення.
